A Tribute to Women’s History Month at the Dignity House

Bryan Ahuatl

On Thursday, April 1st, the Passaic Academy for Science and Engineering’s Key Club had the honor of meeting with our esteemed Mayor, Hector Lora, at the Passaic Dignity House. Key Club members in attendance were the Key Club advisor, Ms. Lowenstein;  president, Jocelyn Hernandez; vice-president, Jessica Ahuatl; and members: Bryan Ahuatl, Alexa Salinas, and Mirielle Tejada. The Key Club has been working on events and initiatives individually and in partnership with the mayor’s office aimed at helping the most vulnerable members of the community; and on Thursday, the women at the Dignity House were the beneficiaries of feminine products, essentials, and other necessities.  Ninety percent of the donations came from teachers, staff, and administrators at P.A.S.E and the other ten percent came from the Key Club’s president, Jocelyn Hernandez, and Dr. Donald Fanelli, DMD – a community-minded dentist in Rutherford, NJ.

The Key Club is delighted to have had the opportunity to assist in this Drive and will continue serving its community in different arenas and across a variety of platforms. The Key Club looks forward to working on many more projects that help the people of the city in accordance with the mayor’s initiatives as well as events and giving’s the Key Club members develop through their service, leadership, and entrepreneurial mindset. The Mayor publicized the events the Key Club participated in and introduced the team to the wonderful individuals who make things happen at the Dignity House.  Take a look at some of the giving and people involved on Mayor Lora’s Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/TeamPassaic/?__tn__=C-R live at 9:09 AM.

The Key Club is grateful to every single public-spirited donor for their generous donations without whom this giving would not be possible.  Please join the Key Club this Saturday at 4:00 PM in Third Ward Park as we assist the mayor with a cleanup and beautification initiative.  Learn more about Saturday’s event here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZpoxrMgKtnPuucbRs0QGHv-JhztV9_GA/view?usp=sharing
