The Science Star’s assistant editor-in-chief, Yamilka Moreno, has been selected as a finalist in the MIPS Black History Month Essay Contest.

This qualifies Moreno to compete in a trivia contest at the organization’s annual Black History celebration this Thursday, Feb 24.

All finalists and runners-up will receive a Certificate of Achievement and Visa gift card for cash values listed below:

1st place: $500

2nd place: $300

3rd place: $200

Runners-up: $100
